SUMMER TERM NEWSLETTER 2008

Richdance

What a fantastic term, grade 2 & 4 classes had the unique opportunity to perform not only in the Richmond Dance Gala but also in the RichDance Festival at White Lodge, home to the lower school of the Royal Ballet. Our piece was well received by the audience and we all enjoyed ourselves immensely, hopefully we’ll be invited back next year!

I.S.T.D Tap & Modern Examinations

Children from primary, grade one and grade two tap & modern classes sat the first ISTD exams ever taken by Marble Hill Dance Studio. Thanks to Miss Maria who worked hard over the term to prepare the children, we got fantastic results with four A and six B grades.

Congratulations to: Chloe Tunnell, Madeline Bettany, Hermione Kellow, Zoe Risbridger-Smith & Kyah Ransom-Davey who received B’s and Olivia Sweeney, Evelyn Zahab, Lottie Barret & Madeline Berg-Allan who received A’s.

All results were 74% and above, Maria and I are so pleased, congratulations everyone.

RAD Examinations

Children also took part in Royal Academy of Dance examinations at the beginning of June. They took examinations in Grades 1, 2 & 4. Again the results were excellent with Merit and Distinction awards throughout.
Congratulations to Chloe Tunnell, Olivia Sweeny, Madeline Battany, Sophie Stansbury, Lydia Watson and Hermione Kellow who were awarded with Merit and to Evelyn Zahab, Sophie Lipsey, Nellie Williams & Grace Morrison who were awarded with Distinction.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Grade 4 students Barnaby Quarendon and Grace Morrison, Grace made her debut in Billy Elliot as a ballet girl at the Victoria Palace Theatre on the 2nd June. Barnaby gained a place at the Royal Ballet Summer School and also took part in this season’s performances of Romeo & Juliet at the Royal Opera House as a torch bearer. He has also been invited back to the Junior Associate programme in September.

Uniform

Just a note: It is required that students wear the correct uniform in all classes and hair must be tied back in a bun, (pony tail for pre-primary and primary), it is important to be correctly dressed for class. Ballet socks are also essential; it is difficult to put tap shoes on bare feet. For Pre-curriculum to Primary, please ensure your child has knotted elastic laces.
