SUMMER NEWSLETTER 2009

Dear Parents,

Wow - I am exhausted, I’m sure you are too!
What a fantastic year for Marble Hill. Once again children are making such amazing progress - seeing this is the greatest reward for any teacher, students have achieved outstanding exam results in ballet, tap & modern. To top this, we were invited to perform our Soul Bossanova dance at festivals not once, but three times. This summer also sees the 1st Annual Summer School for Marble Hill which I hope will be a great success.

Fees

There are no fee increases but please note the autumn term is 14 weeks.

Reports

It is with much regret that I cannot continue to write reports for every student, the school has grown dramatically and with nearly 200 children (and 2 of my own!) it is impossible for me alone to compile reports for everyone. I do apologise, however I gladly welcome any parent to call or email should they wish to discuss their child’s progress.

RAD Ballet Results & ISTD TAP & MODERNS Exams

We had a small session of RAD grade 2 ballet in March 2009; subsequently the girls received fantastic results. Well Done!

Leaving

Once again, I must say goodbye and good luck to Grade 5 student Barnaby Quarendon who is going of to pastures new. Barnaby, a RBS junior associate for 2 years, won a scholarship to Tring Park. Tring is an excellent vocational dance school in Hertfordshire; here he will embark on intense training in all aspects of dance and performing arts. Congratulations!

Summer School 2009

I have a few places left for our 1st Annual Marble Hill Summer School the dates are 3rd – 7th of August please check out the website or call 02088916926 for further information.

Miss Indra

I would like to say thank you to Miss Indra and to all the parents and children who have welcomed her, she is very much enjoying working at Marble Hill and looking forward to the coming year.

Uniform

Please ensure your child is appropriately dressed to dance. In the past term I have had children turning up without shoes, leotards and ballet socks this is no longer acceptable. Ballet socks are generally inexpensive about £2.50 per pair, please buy a couple at the start of term to see you child through.
Please also make sure your child has their hair up in a pony tail away from the face or in a bun for babies to Pre primary. A bun must be worn for Grades 1 upwards.

Changing

I do understand that the Crown gets busy on dance days and space is limited; nevertheless, we have had quite a few complaints from Crown patrons about parents stripping children naked around the entrance area of the pub. Please consider pub customers if you have to change your child. There are facilities (albeit small) - the toilets, changing room or the seating area by the kitchen pass.

Marble Hill Dancewear

For when the winter months bring the cold please remember hooded tops, t shirts, bags and track pants are on sale and are available online from the Marble Hill website; please go to the uniform page at www.marblehilldancestudio.co.uk. They are very cosy and perfect for going to and from dance classes.
All profits continue to fund Lucy Stansbury’s World Challenge.

RichDance, Richmond Dance Gala & Orleans Carnival

Well done to all those who took part in all performances of Soul Bossanova. For those of you who missed any performances there are still videos on youtube. Please take a look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQMyDTwGEjI&feature=related
