CHRISTMAS NEWSLETTER 2008

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I expect you are all looking forward to this festive time of year and after a long 14 week term I think everyone must need a break, I certainly do!!! The children have worked very hard and as for Maria & I, we have had the pleasure of witnessing the progress that has been made.

We are currently awaiting results for the grade four Royal Academy of Dance ballet examinations, fingers crossed for all of you!

This term Marble Hill Dance Studio has seen the introduction of our own personalised tracksuit and bags and our photography week, two things I’m delighted about. I must say a huge thank you to Lucy Stansbury for coming up with the enterprising idea of the tracksuit to finance her World Challenge Fund trip to the Moroccan Mountains please read about it below, and another huge thank you to Helen Booker. I believe she has taken some lovely photographs and I hope you all agree it is wonderful to have these special times recorded!

Parents! It’s Lucy Stansbury here, and as many of you may have heard by now, during the October half term, I experienced a life changing expedition to the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. We began the week by staying in a basic hostel run by local people. It was heart wrenching to watch the sheer fascination on the children’s faces when they received our simple gifts of pens and cuddly toys and they found it hard to believe we were the same age, commenting on how tall we all were.

We then embarked on a 45 mile trek through the Lebel Sahro mountain range, staying in tents where we were the only people for miles and ended up by a primary school where the children were extremely grateful for the stationery we hand delivered. On the last night all 11 of us stayed in a tent made of carpets and were lucky enough to experience a camel ride in the Sahara desert. This is just a taster of what we got up to but it was a week in our lives that we will never forget.

Thanks again for your support.

The week of the 8th December is for class observation; I hope you enjoy watching your child. We are back for action on Tuesday the 6th January.

Tap & Modern girls and boys start back the following Monday 12th January.

If you haven’t already, please take a look at the school’s new website. www.marblehilldancestudio.co.uk here you will find the latest newsletter and uniform lists.

Huge congratulations to those who have just passed grade 4 RAD examinations.

Lucy Stansbury performed beautifully in her presentation class, Barnaby Quarendon received Distinction and both Hollie and Jamie Dutoit received Merits, a huge well done to all of you.
